Deadweight and Volumetric weight (Kg)
What is the deadweight and volumetric weight?
Deadweight weight (Kg) = Actual weight of the shipment in weight only.
Volumetric weight (Kg) = The size of the shipment in terms of how much room it would take up in a vehicle, irrelevant of the deadweight of the shipment. Please see the following formula equations for working out the volumetric weight in kg:
- UK Parcels / Freight / Pallets (metres) = L x W x H multiply by 250
- eg 0.50 x 0.50 x 0.70cm x 250= 43.75kg (volume)
- European Parcels (metres) = L x W x H multiply by 250
- 1.00 x .55 x .65m x 250 = 89.37kg (volume)
- European Freight (metres) = L x W x H multiply by 333
- 1.20 x .85 x .75m x 333 = 254.75kg (volume)
- Worldwide Parcels (cm) = L x W x H divided by 6000
- 50 x 60 x 75cm / 6000 = 37.5kg (volume)
- Worldwide Sea / Air Freight (cm) = L x W x H multiply by 167
- 1.50 x 1.25 x 0.75cm x 167 = 234.84kg (volume)
We charge the greater of the deadweight in kg and the volumetric weight in kg for all our shipments.
